Deed of manumission dated July 9, 1853 by Thaddeus S. Clark of Howard County for his Negro slave named John Boon. The amount exchanged is $5. Witnessed by Wm. T. (William Thomas) Dorsey, Thos. (Thomas) Mooney, and Justice of the Peace Littleton Maclin and recorded by Howard County clerk W. H. Worthington, the document identifies Boon as a Negro man age 40 years, whose mamumission is to begin immediately. (Editor's note: Blank page 3 was not scanned and thus is not included.)
