Bill of sale dated May 11, 1859 for Negro slaves named Andrew, Angeline, Daniel, Julia, and Kitty sold by Benjamin Williams to Asbury Fisher, both of Howard County, Maryland. The sale is in the amount of $900. Witnessed by Justice of the Peace Thomas J. White on May 11 and by Baltimore City Justice of the Peace Geo. W. (George W.) Spies on May 13 (who is certified by the clerk of the Superior Court of Baltimore City Geo. E. (George E.) Sangston on May 14) and recorded by Howard County clerk W. W. Watkins on May 26, the document identifies each slave by first name only, age by most recent birthday, and term of service: Angeline age 24 years on May 15, 1858, to serve for 10 years or until May 15, 1868; Andrew age 6 years on April 1, 1859, to serve until he reaches age 40 years or until October 11, 1895; Daniel age 3 years on October 11, 1859, to serve until he reaches age 40 years or until October 11, 1895; Kitty age 2 years on February 22, 1859, to serve for life; and Julia age 1 year on August 17, 1859, to serve for life.
