Shaneece Taylor interviews Oscar Daley-Spencer along with his wife, Deborah Daley-Boehm, on April 12, 2016 in Madison, Wisconsin. Daley-Spencer, who emigrated from Costa Rica in 1980, tells of his life growing up there, as well as his experiences working and raising his daughter in Madison, Wisconsin. Daley-Spencer also discusses his experience as a member of both the African-American and Latin communities in Madison.This interview is part of an oral history series done of residents of Madison on changes affecting the African-American community, beginning around the 1960s and continuing through to 2016. Three Madison high school students were trained in oral history techniques then interviewed black residents who had resided in the city for at least 20-40 years.
