Shaneece Taylor interviews Bobby Moore on April 14, 2016. Moore talks about his childhood in the inner city of Chicago and his experience coming to Madison, Wisconsin in 1976 to attend the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Moore also discusses his current views on politics, racial disparities, and the achievement gap in education in Madison.This interview is part of an oral history series done of residents of Madison on changes affecting the African-American community, beginning around the 1960s and continuing through to 2016. Three Madison high school students were trained in oral history techniques then interviewed black residents who had resided in the city for at least 20-40 years. In the interviews, students asked about four broad areas: 1) family history; 2) education; 3) work history; 4) and issues affecting the Black community in Madison, such as housing, educational opportunities, and racism and prejudice.
