Deed of manumission dated March 9, 1859 by Eliza B. McNew of Howard County, Maryland for her Negro slave named William Henry Hopkins. Witnessed by Hezekiah Linthicum and Justice of the Peace Wm. (William) Allen and recorded by Howard County clerk W. W. Watkins, the document identifies Hopkins by name only and specifies his manumission take effect on January 1, 1879.
