Description
Deed of manumission dated March 9, 1859 by Eliza B. McNew of Howard County, Maryland for her Negro slave named Oliver Dorsey. Witnessed by Hezekiah Linthicum and Justice of the Peace Wm. (William) Allen and recorded by Howard County clerk W. W. Watkins, the document identifies Dorsey as being of dark mulatto complexion, 6 feet in height, and age about 41 or 42 years and specifies his manumission take effect on January 1, 1860.
