Description
Agreement dated October 17, 1861 between Edward and Mary C. Hammond of Howard County, Maryland and Kitty Miller of Anne Arundel County, Maryland over service and manumission of a mulatto child named Bessy, daughter of Becky. Witnessed by Thomas A. Hunt and Justice of the Peace Joseph Hunt on October 17 and recorded by Howard County clerk W. W. Watkins on November 18, the document specifies that Miller agrees to raise the mulatto child named Bessy, daughter of Becky and now owned by Mary C. Hammond, and for such maintenance will have the services of the child until March 1, 1869, when the Bessy will be set free. (Editor's note: Blank page 3 was not scanned and thus is not included.)
