Dayton, London
Description
London Dayton, a free African American, sells Josiah Dayton 13 acres in East Hampton near Round Swamp in September of 1803 for 26 pounds. In other deeds, London Dayton is described as "formerly a servant of John Dayton," which suggests he may have been owned by the Dayton Family. The sale is witnessed by Nat Gardiner and Richard Miller, but it was not executed by a Justice of the Peace.
