Description

Selah Pike deeds London Dayton, elsewhere identified as a free African American, a parcel bounded on the north, south and west by land belonging to Captain Abraham Gardiner's heirs, and on the east by a highway [unnamed] for 33 shillings. This deed indicates that London Dayton was "formerly a servant of John Dayton." The deed was witnessed by John Stratton and Mercy Loper; not executed by a Suffolk County, N.Y. Justice of the Peace.
