Holograph, signed.Title devised by cataloger.Manuscript annotated on recto, with "17" in pencil beneath Pierpont's salutation to Garrison.Manuscript annotated on verso, with "John Pierpont - Washington, Deb. 11, 1864" in pencil along center-right margin of page.John Pierpont writes William Lloyd Garrison on the arrival of George Thompson in Boston, and requests that Garrison extend to Thompson the invitation from the "Washington Lecture Association" to deliver an address or two before it. Pierpont informs Garrison that the association was formed two years prior, and describes it as the "pioneer society in this metropolis" and the "advocate of the great Cause". Pierpont informs Garrison that Thompson would be compensated for the lecture to the amount of $100.
