Tribune Des Moines, Iowa ^pulation Grows MORE WAACs REPORT Population of the WAAC training center at Fort Des Mpines jumped another 271 Monday as a new group of 125 officer candidates and 146 basic auxiliaries, or privates, arrived to begin their training. Included among the 146 basic auxiliaries were 80 Negro girls. Monday's arrivals brought the total number of girls at the post to approximately 1,700. One class of 180 auxiliaries already has completed its training. Its members have been assigned to various clerical, stenographic and minor administrative duties at the post. Also Piccolo Players J WAAC band officials announced Monday th long hunt for a piccolo player is at an end. Three girls who play the instrument have been recruited, and now, instead of not having any piccolo players the band has too many. "Please don't send us any more I piccolo players," Band Leader (Peter Berg is saying.
