Holograph, signed.Title devised by cataloger.Boston Public Library (Rare Books Department) manuscript composed on white paper with two horizontal fold lines. Across the head edge of the page, "From Edmund Quincy" is written in a different handwriting and underlined. Under the salutation, the number "55" is written in pencil.Edmund Quincy writes to William Lloyd Garrison to "thank you most heartily for your admirable letter in reply to [Senator Charles] Sumner," and his refusal to vote for the 15th Amendment. Quincy also tells Garrison that he received a letter from Richard Webb announcing his father's death [Richard D. Webb].
