Holograph, signed.Title devised by cataloger.Manuscript dated "Friday, Apr. 4 / 73".Samuel May, Jr. writes to William Lloyd Garrison expressing his concern for Garrison's health, advising him to refrain from "tasking" himself too strenuously, and states his pleasure in learning that Helen's health had recovered. May states that he has been busy "at work upon a Catalogue" for the recently-relocated public library. May states that he has recently received a copy of Samuel Joseph May's memoirs, and states his hopes that Garrison's health will be preserved long enough for him to complete his own authobiography. In closing, May states that in regards to the "Charles Sumner matter" that he could not but help feeling that Sumner had "invited censure by his course last summer".
