Coffin, William Endicott, and Samuel May.This printed circular letter is annotated by Samuel May, "Secretary and Assistant Treasurer" of the Executive Committee.Title supplied by cataloger.Typescript.This printed circular letter, dated April 25, 1866 and signed by numerous political leaders and abolitionists, proposes "a national testimonial, not less than Fifty Thousand Dollars, to our fellow countryman--William Lloyd Garrison." Within this printed circular letter is a transcription of an April 11, 1866 letter from Salmon Portland Chase and an excerpt of a letter from Charles Sumner.
