Description

Letter of support sent to President Dammann following decision to admit African American student: "Dear Mother Dammann, I have received through the mail an anonymous printed communication asking me to protest the admission of a colored girl into the Freshman class of Manhattanville College. Apparently the instigator of this 'Jim-Crowe' leaflet is ashamed to expose her identity or she would not have written behind a cowardly anonymity. I herewith inform you that I am convinced that Jim Crowism is inherently opposed to the fundamental equality of all races on Catholicism and wish to commen you for you progressive step in admitted young ladies regardless of their race into the full privileges of Manhattanville College. Very Sincerely
