Washington: Maj. Gen. Daniel Chappie" James Jr., USAF, deputy assistant secretary of defense, receives the second star of a major general, in a ceremony at the Pentagon 7/31. Pinning the new star on him are Air Force Capt. Daniel James III, the general's son (left), Secy of Defense Melvin Laird; and Mrs. James, the general's wife.
