Description

Geraldine K. Moreland was born on April 17, 1901. She was the widow of William Moreland. Mrs. Moreland was a self-employed real estate broker and she retired in 1972. In 1980, she received the community award fro the People's Tribunal for her contribution to Toledo's black heritage. In her interview, she discusses the major events of the 1920s. She covers such topics as prohibition, the Ku Klux Klan parade of 1924, Women's Sufferage, Marcus Garvey's Back to Africa Movement, the effects of WWl on Toledo's economy, Communism, racial tensions,the numbers racket, and legalized prostitution. She died on November 3, 1982 at the age of 81, in Toledo.
