Cadet Albert Floyd, second from the right, and the other students learn how to operate a reciprocating gasoline engine. According to the caption written on the back of the photo, "Students engage in ground school studies throughout flight training to maintain a fresh memory of subjects learned in the Naval School of Pre-Flight."
