Holograph, signedTitle supplied by catalogerHandwritten note on envelope, "answered, February 1844."James informs May he is sending the address on slavery from the English Unitarian clergy to the American Unitarian clergy by way of James Cannings Fuller. He comments on the fact that some of the English ministers did not sign the Address because of unfamiliarity with the subject or unwillingness to act as admonishers. James suggests a continuing correspondence that could be published occasionally in church periodicals. He proposes a union of the American and English Unitarian churches. He mentions the volume of Artois' sermons that he is bringing out
