Regarding letters to New York Tribune written by Augustus Washington of Hartford, Connecticut, who emigrated to Liberia. Extensive criticism of Washington's statements regarding Liberia. [Note: Washington is one of the few African-American daguerreotypists and photographers whose career has been documented. In 1855 he wrote a less critical opinion piece on Liberia.]
