Color photograph. Robert Kyle West (1953-2013) was born in Philadelphia, PA. From 1985-1999, he served as the curator of film and video at the Mint Museum in Charlotte, NC. In 1999, he cofounded the nonprofit, Working Films, with filmmaker Judith Helfand and moved its headquarters to Wilmington, NC, in a historic firehouse on South Fifth Avenue. He served as a boardmember for the Paul Robeson Fund for Independent Media, the Rockefeller Media Fellowships, the Media Arts Fellowship Program of the NEA, and the North Carolina Arts Council.
