The interview delves into Stoney's work as an independent documentarian, social justice and civil rights advocate, and professor of film at NYU, and into some of his films such as All my babies and The uprising of '34. Along the way, Stoney recounts his encounters with notable figures such as Ralph Bunche, Gunnar Myrdal, Myles Horton and the Highlander Folk School, and his role in the creation of the Alternate Media Center at New York University.
