Description

A woman wears a morning dress from 1829. The dress is red with long-sleeves and a wide collar that covers her shoulders. The sleeves are in the bishop style. There are small red buttons on the cuffs. She wears black ballet slippers and yellow gloves. Around her neck she wears double ruffs of white lace with jagged edges. She wears a yellow and green striped bow at the neck. She wears a large bonnet head piece that is made of white lace and the same yellow and green striped ribbon. She reads a two-page letter and rests her head in her right hand. Her foot rests on a green pillow, edged in gold with gold tassels on the corners. She sits on a rectangular bench and leans on a table. Along the edge of the table top hangs a criss-crossed fringe with tassels.
