Holograph, signed.Title devised by cataloger.Manuscript addressed from "P.O. B. 2985"Manuscript addressed to "Wm Lloyd Garrison Esq. Roxbury Mass."Epes Sargent informs William Lloyd Garrison that he has researched "the case of Firman, the American medium in Paris", whom Sargent states was sentenced to six months' imprisonment for the "exercise of his powers in the production of the materialization phenomena". Sargent asserts his conviction that the case is "one of gross, unwarrantable persecution". Sargent writes that spritualists in England and France are "calling upon their American brethren to intercede" on behalf of Firman, and proposes Garrison head a memorial to communicate with the American ministers in Paris to ensure that "justice is done".
