Description

This interview (circa 1984) with Colletta Clark is part of our Black History Collection. This interview is on one cassette tape, three Beta and one VHS. We do not have the equipment to play either tape. If these tapes are not digitized, we will not be able to access them at all. This interview documents the stories and struggles of African Americans in Pasadena. Justification from reconciled records: Colletta Clark's family moved to Pasadena from Portland in February of 1922. Ralph Riddle was the first black officer in Pasadena in 1946. Mack Robinson (July 18, 1914 - March 12, 2000) won a silver medal in 1936 Olympics. When he came back from Olympics, he had very hard time finding a job in Pasadena. Rosalinda Stocks' family member James "Slick" Stocks was a great athlete and worked with US Postal Services. The Carr family is one of Pasadena's pioneer families. Clara's father-in-law came to California in 1898 and settled in Pasadena in 1900. This interview documents the stories and struggles of African Americans in Pasadena.cphi_000012_t2: Pasadena Black History #4 includes interview with Colletta Clark, Part 2 of 3 (entire tape). cphi_000012_t3: Pasadena Black History #5 includes interview with Colletta Clark, Part 3 of 3 (00:00-04:09) and interview with Ruby McKnight Williams, Part 1 of 2 (04:09-21:22). cphi_000012_t4: Pasadena Black History #6 includes interview with Ruby McKnight Williams, Part 2 of 2 (00:00-12:59) and interview with Ralph Riddle, Part 1 of 3 (12:59-20:52). cphi_000012_t5: Pasadena Black History #9 includes interview with Isaac...
