Kalser, Martha (interviewer) Prohaska, Anton (interviewer)
Description
This is the transcription of the interview conducted with Elsie Johnson Edwards on February 03, 1999 by Anton "Tony" Prohaska and Martha Kalser as part of the Springs Oral History Project or History Project, Inc. The original audio file is not included in this oral history because the recording is very low quality and difficult to hear. Elsie Edwards was married to Captain Norman Edwards, who captained bunker boats for Promised Land and the Smith Meal Company. In her interview, she discusses the summer colony that her parents worked for, her parents' Swedish roots, and her husband's bunker fishing career. She offers details about the employment of African Americans from Virginia at the fish factory, along with information about her husband's bunker boats.
