Description

Records collected by the Mississippi Sovereignty Commission between July 1964 and July 1965. The file contains letters to various officials in Mississippi including Governor Paul Johnson and the secretary of the legislature, as well as responses to those letters as written by the Sovereignty Commission. Many of the letters are from students seeking information on segregation in Mississippi, the work of the Sovereignty Commission, or the issue of States' Rights.The Civil Rights Digital Library received support from a National Leadership Grant for Libraries awarded to the University of Georgia by the Institute of Museum and Library Services for the aggregation and enhancement of partner metadata.
