Marquee of the State Theatre in Bay City, Michigan. Built in 1908 during the booming lumbering era in Michigan, it was originally known as the Bijou, and was one of the many vaudeville and burlesque houses in Bay City. In 2008 it got a new design, created and built by Eric E. Larsen in the spirit of the theater from the time of its Mayan-themed redesign of 1930

The 1908 State Theatre in Bay City, Michigan, originally the Bijou, was built in 1908 during the booming lumbering era in Michigan as ne of many vaudeville and burlesque houses in town. It was renovated in 1930 to resemble a Mayan pyramid by renowned architect C. Howard Crane. A new marquee designed by Eric E. Larsen, incorporating a retro Mayan Indian headdress, was part of another retrofit of the theater as a single-screen movie house in 2008

In 2002 their son, Amit, told a local newspaper, "We're not exactly a multiplex as much as a 'biplex'" movie theater. At one time, the upper windows were also covered with depictions of Hollywood movie stars
