Description

The issue includes advertisements and articles on the following topics: goods and services offered by local businesses; death, marriage, and legal notices; local events; news about social, medical, agricultural, political, economic, and military affairs; the sale of land and other personal property; and runaway slaves. Of particular interest is a description of the "Railroad Jubilee" (page 3, first column on the left) that was held "in honor of the first 'iron horse' that ever appeared in Cahaba. John T. Morgan delivered a speech at the celebration.
