Letter from Charlotte Cowles in Farmington, Connecticut, to her brother Samuel Cowles in Hartford, Connecticut. Charlotte expressed surprise that Samuel could not find the title she wanted, "An Appeal to the Christian Women of America." AN outbreak of typhus had affected a great many in the community. One man thought to have typhus actually suffered from delirium tremens. The daughters of William Cowles are failing rapidly.
