Description

The model for Dinnerstein’s multiple images of a sleeping woman was a student at the New York City Technical College in Brooklyn where the artist taught. While posing, the student shared stories of her childhood on the West Indies island of Saint Vincent. Above the sequence of sleeping forms is a dream/memory of her family and community that summons thoughts of constancy and passing time.Modern American Realism: The Sara Roby Foundation Collection, 2014
