Holograph, signed.Title devised by cataloger.Henry Clarke Wright writes to William Lloyd Garrison that he has given "22 public & many social lectures" on the "Causes & Cure of the [American Civil] War" since he left Boston in August. He reports that he has collected "about 60 dollars" to "keep our standard flying" but that the "West is rich in all but Money." Wright views the war as "a battle of ideas" and reminds Garrison "that Liberty, as a Bullet, may kill the Tyrant, but Liberty, as an Idea, alone, can kill Tyranny."
