Harvey Gantt delivers a campaign speech with free pizza at Alexander Mills Town Hall in Rutherford County. Gantt says that he is moved that people waited out in the cold to hear him speak and encourages the crowd to bring others to vote. Gantt says that he wants to go to DC to support education, tax deductions for college tuition, student loans, the minimum wage and equal pay, portable pensions, to care for seniors, protect Medicare and Social Security, and to cut corporate welfare. Gantt criticizes his opponent, Jesse Helms, for trying to shut down the Department of Education, cutting student loans, and protecting the special interests. He continues, criticizing donations to the Jesse Helms Foundation, Helms's strategy of hiding the whole campaign, and not coming to talk to people or debate. Gantt concludes by saying that this election is about the future, he believes in America and democracy, and wants the crowd to go vote and get others to vote. At the end, Gantt reads aloud and comments on the supportive signs held by members of the crowd.
