Description

Pictured is violinist Elwyn Adams on the day of a performance of the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto at Severance Hall, under the direction of Hyman Schandler in a benefit concert. Elwyn Adams (ca 1933-1995) was a famous concert violinist, and a professor at the University of Florida, beginning in 1970. The Cleveland, Ohio, native was appearing weekly on local radio at the age of 7, according to the Sarasota Herald Tribune. During his career, he performed with a number of famous musicicians, including Isaac Stern. Among his accomplishments, he served as concertmaster of the Symphony Orchestra of Quebec, and the Bordeaux (France) Symphony Orchestra, according to the Tuscaloosa News.
