Diana Ross (born 1944) achieved international stardom as the lead singer of the Supremes. The group’s breakout single, “Where Did Our Love Go,” reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in August 1964, followed shortly thereafter by “Baby Love,” “Come See about Me,” “Stop in the Name of Love,” and “Back in My Arms Again.” The trio crowned their success in October 1965 by becoming the first pop group to play Lincoln Center. This poster advertises that historic concert, with Ross standing at far right beside Mary Wilson (born 1944; center) and Florence Ballard (1943–1976; left). In 1970, Ross left the Supremes to pursue a highly acclaimed and influential solo career. She also appeared in five films, beginning with Lady Sings the Blues in 1972.
