Presumably the buildings were located near or in the Calle de los Negros (also known as "Nigger Alley")."Views of Los Angeles, Cal., and Vicinity. Published by J.D. "Olmsted & Wales, School Books, Stationery, Fancy Goods, Etc., 19 West First St., Widney Block, Los Angeles, Cal."--text, stamp on verso. Title devised by cataloger based on note on verso; date approximated by cataloger based on year that Westervelt first appeared in Los Angeles City directories; Olmsted & Wales were located as a firm at 19 W. 1st Street from 1884 until about 1887. Light green mount.
