Video of the 1985 North Georgia Folk Festival. The video begins with a woodworker, Alex Williams, being interviewed about his wood sculptures. Williams shows his peices, explains their meanings, and discusses his material. Next, the gospel group Voices of Truth perform. Art Rosenbaum introduces the next musicians, Lawrence Eller and Ross Brown who perform old-time songs on banjo and fiddle. They are accompanied by a third musician on guitar. Joe Rakestraw performs next, and begins with a story. He plays several songs on guitar and vocals. Mabel Cawthorn perfoms on piano and vocals, accompanied by Rosenbaum on banjo. Next John "Doodle" Thrower and the Golden RIver Grass perform several songs, including "Foggy Mountain Top." Finally, Doc and Lucy Barnes of Athens, Georgia, perform with the The Gospel Chorus. They perform "Great Camp Meeting in the Promised Land" while Doc Barnes accompanies the group on guitar. The annual folk music festival is organized by the Athens Folk Music & Dance Society.Record Contributed By
