Description

A map accompanying a letter from John Drake to Gov. John Sevier detailing the Road from the courthouse in Nashville to the Georgia Road. The surveyed road runs first from Nashville to Fort Nash, a short-lived military outpost near the Coffee and Cannon county border. It continues on through Marion and Hamilton counties, giving us one of the earliest glimpses into the area that would be come Chattanooga. It ends at the intersection with the Georgia Road. "Submitted to Gov. Sevier on Feb. 23, 1807." At least one sheet missing.John Drake was born in 1761 in North Carolina.
