Description
One of a series of views of Atlantic Beach, a coastal vacation destination in North Myrtle Beach for African-Americans. Also known as the Black Pearl, Atlantic Beach offered Black vacationers access to beachfront hotels, restaurants and nightclubs that were closed to them in other coastal areas due to laws of segregation. It was established in 1934 and was a popular destination through the 1970s.
