Addressed to May at 21 Cornhill, Boston.Envelope includes two original postage stamps.Holograph, signed.In a note on the inner flap of the envelope, Miss Wigham says she hopes May received her letter of credit for $4.May's note on the envelope reads, "Rec'd Nov. 28 / 57. Ans'd [Nov.] 29 / [57]."Title supplied by cataloger.Miss Wigham sympathizes with May over the straitened circumstances of the anti-slavery cause as a result of the Panic of 1857. She mentions the "catalogue of tokens of success in the progress of the A. S. movement." Miss Wigham says that the Scotch banks have been affected by the financial crisis and that the Edinburgh contributions to the Anti-Slavery Fair will probably be somewhat less as a consequence.
