Title supplied by cataloger.; Photograph was edited for publication purposes.Not long after Barry filed the first paternity suit against Chaplin, federal prosecutors brought Mann Act charges against Charlie Chaplin in relation to Barry; he was acquitted.Photograph caption dated March 25, 1944 reads, "This series of pictures shows how red-haired Joan Barry, who came to Hollywood in search of fame, met Charlie Chaplin, now on trial on charges of violating the Mann 'White Slave' Act. According to testimony, she first became acquainted with the comedian through a letter of introduction given her by a friend in Mexico City."
