Phelps-Stokes Fund

Description

Describing his ailing health and declining activities; reflecting fondly on their yesteryear collaboration on the "Encyclopedia of the Negro"; commending him on his ongoing activities and productivities; regretting that his Fund cannot help endow the preservation of his papers and referring him to the Ford Foundation or the Freedom Fund; and cautioning him that his "liberal views on many subjects and your radical views on others" might well complicate the matter.
