Description

Holograph. This may be a diary entry. Caroline Weston writes about her daily life. She travels from Hingham to Boston by stagecoach; hears much business gossip; describes the voice and manner of James G. Birney; took tea with Henrietta Sargent; taught school; heard Birney at the State House; and went to a gathering of abolitionists which included George Bancroft, Mrs. Lydia Maria Child, and others. She mentions George Blake. She went to hear a lecture by Emerson [perhaps Ralph Waldo Emerson]. She visited Henry Chapman, Sr. She says Samuel May, Jr., is to lecture at the Odeon.
