Description

Dr. Falú talks about her father as one of her main Afro-Puerto Ricans heroes who positively impacted her life. Juan Falú Salzuela was a political activist who was involved in a civil mobilization that created recommendations for the draft of the Puerto Rican constitution in order to create a clause that would guarantee the rights of the Afro-Puerto Ricans. Falú Salzuela also had a protagonist role in the creation of the Association of Black Puerto Ricans for the Defense of the Puerto Rican Culture and Heritage in 1939 and was also one of the organizers of cultural events such as the Afro-Puerto Rican Carnival.
