Description
Harvey Gantt delivers a campaign speech at the Martin County Government Center, after an introduction. Gantt says that people are giving up on the American Dream, but that he is the living embodiment of the American Dream. Gantt criticizes his opponent, Jesse Helms, for getting donations through his foundation from foreign countries and international companies, and for voting against Social Security and Medicare. Gantt talks about issues including education, Head Start, investment to prevent drop-out and deliquency, student loans, tax deductions for college, job training, portable pensions and pension protections, equal pay for equal work, prescription drug prices, and protecting the environment.
