Description

The Salt Lake Temple has been completed and opened. A description of the temple’s appearance is given. When the author visited Utah, the incomplete temple was controlled by the government, which threatened to destroy it unless the Mormons abandoned polygamy. The author describes the tabernacle and notes that public worship resembles Methodist meetings. The house built by Brigham Young for his favorite wife, Eliza, is described. A beach near the Great Salt Lake is described. The women of Utah detest polygamy and marry Gentiles whenever possible. The article includes pictures of Eliza’s house, the temple, and Garfield Beach on the Great Salt Lake.
