A salute to Elijah Green and Dan Curtis Purchased in 1971 by Elijah Green and Dan Curtis, The New Town Tavern, 600 w. Jackson, has developed into a small empire and a real assest to the West Las Vegas community. These two enterprising men had a dream to fulfill when making the purchase some 12 years ago. At the time of purchase, the operation had a few slots, some gaming and a bar. A drastic fire befell them during May, 1981 with the rear end of the casino suffering considerable damage. To rebuild the casino cost the owners approximately $550,000. The structure was enlarged and consisted of a sports book, poker room, bar. restaurant, slots and '21' tables.
