Deed of manumission dated May 30, 1960 by Charles Roberts of Howard County, Maryland for his slave son named Henry Roberts. Witnessed by Lewis J. Watkins and Justice of the Peace J. G. Worthington and recorded by Howard County clerk W. W. Watkins, the document indicates that Henry Roberts age about 14 years, who had that very day been purchased from Major Henry H. Owings, would be set free when he turned age 21 years.
