Mones, Nicole

Description

Connie and Nicole begin the interview discussing how the story of American black jazz musicians in the Chinese Jazz Age had never been told until Nicole’s book, and the classical backgrounds of many of the jazz musicians. They go on to talk about the plot of the book and the positive as well as negative racial issues the musicians encountered. Connie has Nicole read a passage from the book, and they proceed to talk about the Japanese invasion of Asia during World War II and the Jewish question in Japanese history before moving on to a discussion of the Communist Party in China. Connie and Nicole then discuss how much time Nicole spent researching the book, and Connie closes the interview requesting an autograph for her copy of the book.
