Holograph, signed.Catherine Paton wrote this letter to an esteemed friend, presumably this was Maria Weston Chapman. Catherine Paton is anxious to know whether the contributions to the anti-slavery fair were suitable. She mentions embroidered black satin aprons and baby cloaks. The contributors are very anxious to know how their gifts were received. She praises Henry C. Wright. She speaks disparagingly of Henry Clapp. Paton says: "There is another traitor to the cause here, a Mr. Gloucester, a coloured minister from Philadelphia on a mission to raise money, ..." George Thompson is a condidate for Parliament from the Tower Hamlets, a district in London.
